I am pretty much the opposite type of person. Unsuccessful and truthful. But I feel like it's not about actively thinking anything that encourages you, so much as actively avoiding thoughts that discourage you. When you see a thought on the horizon that means you might be wrong or a bad person, just stop looking so far out. Fix your gaze on a spot between you and that inconvenient possibility. A spot that maximally makes you both smart and good. A spot before the horizon and definitely before self awareness.
